OVERVIEW
The Systems QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Cavender's business-critical applications across retail and enterprise systems. This role partners closely with IT, Product, Operations, Finance, and Merchandising teams to validate system functionality and support stable releases. The Systems QA Engineer plays a key role in protecting the integrity of our ERP, POS, reporting, and integrated platforms by executing thorough testing processes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the "Cavender's Culture" and drive the Mission, Vision and Values.
• Review and analyze business and functional requirements across retail and enterprise systems
• Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and testing strategies for new features and system enhancements
• Perform manual testing across ERP, POS, eCommerce, and integrated systems
• Design, maintain, and execute automated test scripts to support regression and release testing
• Validate data accuracy across reporting platforms including Power BI, Sigma, or similar tools
• Test retail transaction flows including pricing, promotions, inventory, and financial integrations
• Identify, document, and track defects, partnering with development teams to ensure timely resolution
• Perform system integration testing across downstream applications and APIs
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the SDLC
• Conduct SQL-based data validation to confirm system accuracy and reporting outputs
• Proactively identify risks, testing gaps, and process improvements
• Support release validation efforts and ensure high-quality production deployments
• Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 3-5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or software testing
• Strong experience in manual testing and test case development
• Experience testing ERP platforms, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
• Experience validating system integrations and testing APIs
• Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Must be based in Tyler, TX or willing to relocate
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Experience testing retail POS systems
• Familiarity with Power BI, Sigma, or other reporting platforms
• Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Retail industry experience
