Job Summary: The Quality Assurance Engineer responds effectively to customer OEM issues by arranging the appropriate personnel or through specialized training. Contributes to the development and implementation of best practices in quality strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to enhance operational performance. Follows up on and implement corrective actions for internal quality issues, occasionally extending responsibility to customer quality concerns.
Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Conduct initial investigations of all returned parts.
- Analyze OEM quality issues and generate NCR reports for sharing.
- Follow parts through the investigation process at the customer site via G1 steering members.
- Create and update investigation reports, including 8D reports.
- Lead customer meetings and provide professional service.
- Address customer needs through OEM systems (Chargeback, SCAR, SPPS, QR).
- Utilize Performance Test Stands to evaluate steering gear performance features.
- Generate weekly reports analyzing OEM quality trends, quality costs, and investigation updates for upper management.
- Develop monthly reports for upper management meetings, analyzing OEM quality trends, claim costs, and investigation updates.
- Input data into internal tracking spreadsheets and systems.
- Manage PPAP submissions and 4M/EO changes.
- Initiate and track non-conformance reports (NCRs) through closure.
- Organize and lead all customer meetings (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Conduct deep-dive investigations with customers globally (US, China, Korea).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Less than one year of experience in a quality or manufacturing environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Understanding of manufacturing quality management principles.
- Ability to analyze product failure types.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
Technical Competencies:
- Proficiency in Quality Computerized Systems (Customer Portal, Mando).
- Understanding of GD&T and drawing interpretation.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint
Non-Technical Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective problem-solving interactions.
- Self-directed, results-driven approach with the ability to drive issues to closure.
- Excellent leadership and personnel management skills
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based work with regular use of computers and standard office equipment.
- Occasional domestic and international travel may be required based on project or business needs.
- May be required to attend meetings or site visits outside regular working hours depending on time zones or urgency.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk or workstation using a computer and other office tools.
- Frequent movement within the office or work environment, including walking, standing, and bending to carry out tasks.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving items or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs (9 kg).
- Must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to perform computer-based work and participate in meetings or teleconferences.
Remote Work: Not Eligible for Hybrid Remote Work Schedule
