Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and deliver automated solutions to test API’s, database components, web services and/or web applications.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test environments, test cases, test scripts, etc.
  • Design, code and execute automated tests using Java/XML/SQL based test frameworks and/or 3rd party test automation tools.
  • Contribute to test strategies and planning efforts following an Agile model; Aid in test story development and definition of acceptance criteria.
  • Report test results and monitor defects and their resolution.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical and operational problems on installed networks or systems.
  • Escalate software process issues to appropriate levels of management.
  • Partner with software developers and other testers to deliver strategic product quality solutions.
  • Advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Java/J2EE based development
  • 1+ years of related software testing experience
  • Experience with IDE & Enterprise Source Code Control tools (e.g. Eclipse, Visual Studio, TFS)
  • Experience developing and/or testing Oracle and/or SQL or other relationship database
  • Experience using JUnit, TestNG or other testing based framework
  • Experience writing test documentation (e.g., test plans, test scripts, etc…).
  • Experience using defect/issue-tracking tools (e.g.Jira, TFS, VersionOne)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational, analysis, and problem solving skills.
  • Possess a strong technical aptitude, and exhibits passion for applying quality best practices.
  • Hard working, self-starter with a proven record of completing assigned tasks on-time.

Preferred or Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience and technical knowledge in the following areas: J2EE, Websphere, Tomcat, Spring.
  • Experience with software automation tools (e.g. Selenium, etc.)
  • Experience testing Web Services (e.g. Rest, SOAP)
  • Experience in XML parsing
  • Experience with database tools (e.g., SQL Developer, TOAD, etc.).
  • Experience in developing or working with test harnesses and test tools.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology.
