Job Opportunity: 

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our Technology team in Stevens Point, WI, supporting Quality Assurance for our Leisure Travel Line. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our offshore-based QA team and onshore development teams to ensure software quality throughout our software development lifecycle. Additionally, you will assist in the creation of automation scripts and executing automated tests. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in manual testing and initial exposure to test automation, who is eager to develop their technical skills and become a well-rounded quality engineer.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in agile team refinements to understand user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Own all testing deliverables for assigned features, working independently to ensure quality and timely completion
  • Coordinate closely with offshore and onshore QA team to execute manual functional, regression, integration, and API testing across web and mobile platforms
  • Collaborate with developers and business analysts/product owners to define and execute on an overall testing strategy for all systems/applications
  • Assist in creating automation scripts and contribute to automation coverage
  • Execute automation tests in Katalon Studio
  • Support continuous improvement of tech team processes and tools

 

 

 Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with test management tools
  • Strong understanding of manual testing concepts
  • Basic understanding of SQL for data validation
  • Practical working knowledge of Web, Mobile and API testing
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and understanding of Kanban methodology is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally
  • Exposure to test automation 
  • Introductory knowledge of a scripting language is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in software quality assurance

The base salary range for this position in Stevens Point is $70,000 to $90,000, along with annual bonus eligibility.  Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.  We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
