As an IT Quality Assurance professional, you will perform all phases of testing, including analyzing requirements, designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, and reporting results to ensure applications meet business needs and customer expectations.
In this role, you will collaborate with business and technology teams to improve the stability and performance of mission-critical systems. You may also help coordinate Human Resources Management System (HRMS) releases with the HRMS Functional Team, helping ensure system updates are implemented successfully. What you'll work on Perform quality assurance testing of enterprise applications and data technology solutions
- Analyze requirements for completeness and testability.
- Translate business and data requirements into test scripts and design documentation.
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test data, and test scripts to ensure that system functions meet acceptance criteria.
- Ensure that developed or configured solutions meet functional and design specification requirements.
- Use SQL queries to retrieve data stored in a relational database to perform data analysis.
- Analyze and document performance and security problems related to our applications.
- Document defects found during testing into the lifecycle management tool.
- Perform testing of Integrations, reports, or other data management processes or applications.
- Evaluate issues with technical staff to resolve in a timely and effective manner.
- Communicate the status of testing and production readiness to the data team, providing concise information.
- Coordinate with development teams to ensure that all requirements and acceptance criteria have been met.
Create and maintain testing documentation
- Develop, document, and maintain test artifacts such as test plans, test scenarios, test data, and test scripts.
- Use Azure DevOps to document, track testing results, and track defects related to enhancements or maintenance requests.
- Develop and maintain testing documentation in the Azure DevOps repository.
- Use testing standards and methodologies that are in alignment with the direction of OFM Information Technology Services Division.
- Create a traceability matrix to trace testing scenarios to business requirements.
Release Manager responsible for deploying transports containing changes to the various HRMS environments
- Deploy transports, provided by the HRMS/Basis development team, into the non-production and production environments, using the HRMS System.
- Deploy exception transports as needed for HRMS. (Usually 1-3 per month)
- Review the list of changes to be released to the production environment for HRMS. Review all changes and ensure that correct processes and documentation have been submitted by the HRMS/Basis team before any changes are approved for release.
- Coordinate the release of readiness for the HRMS functional teams.
- Create and manage release tasks in Azure DevOps.
- Track and manage all release components to maintain comprehensive, accurate records.
- Identify missed transport requirements to help reduce risks and ensure that release components are correctly deployed to the appropriate environment.
- Escalate transport failures/issues encountered by the HRMS/Basis team during the release process.
- Provide training to team members on the release process and related activities when needed.
- Support other staff with the Change Management process, including SNAP. SNAP is the current change management tool used in OFM for application management.
What we need you to bringRequired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to develop, execute, and maintain test cases and test scripts to ensure product quality.
- Proficient in various testing types: manual testing, regression testing, performance testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Proficient in running SQL queries to test data changes.
- Proven experience in manual testing of various applications.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret requirements and identify test scenarios.
- Ability to effectively document and communicate defects using appropriate tools and terminology to ensure accurate reporting and effective collaboration with developers.
- Ability to take action to learn and grow.
- Ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related area (Mathematics, Engineering, Data and Integration Design).
- Five (5) years of experience in software quality assurance practices or release management.
- Familiarity with State of Washington applications.
- Experience coordinating release management deployments to ensure timely, accurate, and controlled delivery of updates across development, test, and production environments.

Holidays Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.

Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.
Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave.
Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave.
Sick leave accruals for part-time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.
Vacation (Annual Leave) Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Full-time employees who are in pay status for less than 80 nonovertime hours in a month do not earn a monthly accrual of vacation leave.
Part-time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment.
Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.
As provided in , an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357-31-165.
Note: Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for
exempt employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave.
Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
Bereavement Leave Most employees whose family member or household member dies, or for loss of pregnancy, are entitled to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
