Overview

Sigma Squared is seeking a rigorous Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our insights & analytics platform on a part-time basis. In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, data science and product to identify issues, ensure functionality, and maintain a high level of quality for our user base. As the first QA Engineer on the team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape this function as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and execute automated test cases across the platform, covering product features, data science models and machine learning frameworks.

  • Identify, record, and track software defects and issues.

  • Collaborate with developers to understand features and provide feedback on testability and usability.

  • Participate in test planning and requirement reviews to ensure coverage of edge cases.

  • Execute regression, functional, and integration tests.

  • Verify bug fixes and new features in multiple environments.

  • Provide clear and detailed test reports to stakeholders.

  • Contribute to improving QA processes and testing standards within the team.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in automated software testing.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.

  • Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (Jira, Wiremock, Pytest, etc.).

  • Familiarity with basic SQL queries and API testing (Postman or similar).

  • Proficiency with automation testing tools (Playwright or similar).

  • Experience with agile development processes.

  • Knowledge of performance and security testing basics.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential issues.

  • Understanding of statistics and/or data science methodologies is highly preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
