Leepfrog Technologies, Inc. provides its CourseLeaf software to more than 500 of the nation’s most academically complex colleges and universities to manage their academic catalogs, curriculum, section scheduling, registration, and syllabi management.


An Associate Software Development Engineer I Test (SDET) is responsible for developing testing scenarios for implementation of Leepfrog's web-based and supporting applications.  They will understand product uses and consistently work to develop a deeper understanding of the product.  They assist developers in ensuring that the functional specifications are fulfilled and provide feedback to help create a robust and quality product, understand the development and implementation practices needed to obtain and retain customer satisfaction, and understand and help to promote process improvement ideas to drive more efficient software development.


Duties

  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program functions, outputs, usability, or content.
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and communicate defects with software engineers.
  • Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, and/or completeness.
  • Perform initial debugging procedures by reviewing configuration files, logs, and/or code pieces to determine source.
  • Install and configure recreations of software production environments to allow testing of software.
  • Use testing programs including Microsoft Playwright and other automated integration and end to end testing solutions.
  • Participate in product design reviews to understand functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality.
  • Understand existing software configurations and suggest changes to correct errors or to improve its performance.
  • Identify and pursue additional opportunities as they arise to help the individual, the team, and the company achieve success.
  • Will work within an Agile process to record product quality control issues, track progress toward resolutions, communicate effective workarounds for clients and provide estimated completion dates for tested items.

  • Documenting and Recording Information – Engages in entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information, instructions, and documentation in written/electronic form.
  • Programming Knowledge and Expertise – Familiar with Maintaining and improving skill and knowledge with modern testing frameworks, third party tools and processes - specifically focusing on JavaScript and SQL.
  • Testing Expertise - Familiar with the concepts of Unit, Integration, Regression, Smoke, Sanity and System testing. 
  • Regression Testing Knowledge -Familiar with Progressive, Selective, and Complete Regression test patterns


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes 
  • Experience in software development and testing, or in related Quality Assurance 
  • Familiarity with Playwright, JavaScript and SQL is preferred. 

Physical Requirements

  

The Associate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The Associate QA Engineer may be in a busy, open area office.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
